No. VA Cannabis Symposium Shines Bright: Industry Insights, Music, and Community Vibes in Sterling

Last Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Cannabis Small Business Association (CSBA) and co-sponsor Toker's Guide hosted an unforgettable afternoon at Crooked Run Fermentation in Sterling, Virginia. The No. VA Cannabis Symposium brought together cannabis enthusiasts, small business owners, advocates, farmers, and industry professionals for a perfect spring mixer—complete with an expert panel, live music, vendors, and plenty of networking under sunny skies.

The weather could not have been better, setting the stage for a relaxed yet energizing gathering at the vibrant Crooked Run Fermentation venue. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful afternoon filled with good company, great conversations, and the shared excitement of Virginia’s evolving cannabis landscape.

Insightful Panel Discussion on Virginia’s Emerging Recreational Market

The heart of the event was the expert panel moderated by Barbara Biddle, CSBA President. Panelists brought a wealth of real-world knowledge, sharing thoughtful responses to questions about the upcoming Virginia recreational (adult-use) cannabis market. Key topics included:

  • The anticipated launch of regulated retail sales (now slated for January 1, 2027, following recent legislative action)

  • Lessons learned from how Washington, DC, and other established markets have performed

  • Practical advice on how aspiring entrepreneurs should plan and prepare for applying to retail or cultivation licenses

The discussion was extremely insightful, offering attendees actionable takeaways on market structure, equity considerations, licensing timelines, and strategies for small businesses and farmers to thrive in the new regulated framework. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of opportunities—and challenges—ahead as Virginia moves toward full implementation under the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority.

Big Thanks to all our panelists! Bravo! 👏
